You are free to obtain your adult and infant manikins from any source. You can get them new or used.

However, it is important to consider the capabilities of equipment before you purchase it. Manikins must have specific features for your instructor demonstration exam and the classes you teach.

Adult / Child Manikin​

You do not need a "Child Size Manikin. The adult will work for both child and adult.

Compression Function:

​

The manikin must have a mechanical compression function. This means that there is some sort of spring resistance device inside the manikin. (Some manikins are simply blocks of rubber with no mechanical compression functionality.) The compression must reach at least 2 inches in depth. Most do.

Feedback device:

​

Manikins must have a depth indicator. Most make a clicking sound when the compressor reaches 2 inches (on an infant 1/3 the body depth). Be aware that many brands do not have this feature.

Visual feedback is not required and not recommended. i,e, led lights that monitor speed. If the manikin has this feature, it can be turned off by removing batteries, thereby making the manikin acceptable.

Head-Tilt capability:
